The Provo River

Darlene's rod was bent over most of the time.

It was 17 degrees when we started.

We experienced a new way of nymph fishing on this guided trip.
It was very effective on this part of the river.

Browns make up 99% of the fish population on this section of the river.

Larry had to take his own pictures and release the fish too.

He is way tougher than Darlene!

Wade Fishing on a Beautiful Afternoon

The river was a bit icy on the sides.
This fish tore up my fly. Had to tie on a new one after releasing it.

The Fish Spotter's First Fish for 2011

The Fish Spotter was becoming friends with this rainbow.
It was chilly--had to fight the ice in the guides.

This rainbow took a golden stone fly.

Today the rainbows out numbered the browns 2-1.

The browns tended to take

the 2-bit hookers. Enlarge the picture on the right.

It was a good hook set.

Fishing Mid-morning

This colorful rainbow took a red 2-bit hooker.
This short nosed rainbow also took the red 2-bit hooker.

All the fish I caught were healthy!!

This brown has some colorful spots.

The last fish I caught took the yellow stone fly.

Fishing was great until the wind came up.

The wind chill dropped the temp. 20 degrees. Time to go home.

Pheasant Feathers

'The Fish Spotter' has a good nose for sorting pheasant feathers.

I was successful in bringing home my limit of pheasants in Kansas.

Some of the feathers will help catch fish in 2011.

A Beautiful Fall Day On the River

The Arkansas is gin clear and is running at 386 cfs

Darlene and I floated from the 166 Bridge to Salida East.
50 feet from the put-in, this rainbow hit the yellow PMX.

My wife says that I need to take smiling lessons from Chris.

This rainbow took the red 2-bit hooker.

This rainbow also took the PMX.

Some of the browns had their spawning colors.

This was the last fish of the day. I boated over 30 fish and missed 20.

Made for a fantastic day on the river since Darlene forgot her

fishing license. She had to row all day!!!!

I did buy her lunch at the Boathouse.
