Fishing Is Still Hot!!!

Josh landed this nice brown on a Hot Wire Prince.
This rainbow took a bead head prince.
This was Joe's first float on the Arkansas.  This rainbow was just one of many he caught today.

Upstream Float

You can see the early morning snow blowing off Mt. Shavano.
This fish won the bet with Larry's son.
To catch fish today, we had to go through the fly box and try many different flies.
Pretty spots on this fish.

Epic Winds!!!!!!!

We had to dig deep into the guides fly box to find the Pink Panty streamer,
and it worked to catch this fish.
John forgot his comb.  We experienced a 52 m.p.h. gust of wind today.
We ended up sailing the boat down the river.
This rainbow that John caught took the A.R.P.
The river is up to 444c.f.s.  This made it a little bit off color and I think a bit cooler.
The caddis didn't come off the river today.

Ladies Day On The River

Donna caught most of her fish on a foam hopper.

Ann caught most of her fish on the Two Bit Hooker.
The river is changing.  It was 377 c.f.s. at the put-in and 401c.f.s. at the take out.
The raise in the level definitely put some color in the river.

The River Is Above 300c.f.s. Today

Mike was amazed that we used a hopper/dropper in April.
Caught this one on the dropper.
Caught this one on the hopper.
Bret used a black foam caddis.
Bret was talking to me.  He had his line dangling behind him and this fish was so hungry he hit the fly.
Damn near jerked the rod out of his hand.
This high viz caddis caught a few fish today.

Caddis Season

The black foam caddis caught lots of fish today.
This ram was leading the ewes back up the slope away from the river.
At 80 years old Norm still enjoys float fishing and catching those wild browns.
Ray always has a smile on his face when he catches fish!!

Big Fish Day

David used the hopper/Two Bit Hooker combination to land some bigger fish.

This was Jim's first float trip on the Arkansas River.  He enjoyed himself.

More Caddis!!!

The caddis were plentiful and Steve caught lots of fish.
Most of the fish were caught on a tan elk hair caddis.
And some were caught on the G.W. Special.

The Caddis Are Here!!!!!!!!!!

We floated through the hatch.
Steve experienced the caddis hatch for the first time.
The bigger fish seemed to be feeding today.
Chris was using double dries.

My Guide, Lucas

It was my fortune to go with Lucas today.  He put me on MANY fish.
I really think he will become a top guide for ArkAnglers.
He even put me onto the biggest thrill of the day......a common sucker!
I pulled the oars for a few minutes so Lucas could catch a fish or two.
This rainbow challenged both of our skills.  Lucas had to finally go to shore
so that I could finally force the fish to the bank.
This is an example of a Tasmanian or Grand Canyon Rainbow.
See the pronounced color under the jaw of the fish
