Danny's Day

Today was all about catching some nice fish!!
We did have to fight the elements in the afternoon, but
that didn't stop Danny from continuing to catch big fish.

A Guides Day Off (only because of a cancellation)

Darlene did have a chance to catch some nice fish
when she wasn't rowing for me.
I did tease her that she is out of practice.
She said she got some fresh blisters on her palms.
I don't think she lost her touch on where to cast to
catch a big rainbow!

High Country Lake

The Fish Spotter didn't seem impressed with the big fish in this lake.
 Darlene finally caught one.
Larry, of course, had no trouble catching this big Greenback cutthroat.
This is what we watched all morning---cruisers.

Grant had a wonderful day, as you can see by all the big fish he caught.

A Husband and Wife Team

Virginia shows off her first catch from the Arkansas River.
She's smiling because she was catching up with James' fish count.
Nice brown!!!
James ended the trip by catching a rainbow close to the take-out.

My Day Off

Darlene and I rode our 4-wheelers up to Pomeroy Lake.
Darlene is hustling over to see this cutthroat.
I landed my first high mountain grayling.
This is an underwater photo of the dorsal fin of the grayling.
Dead fish in the middle of the road.  What a waste.

1/2 Day Float

This was Sam's first float trip.
Mike said that this was the biggest fish that he's caught out of the Arkansas River.

The Fishing Was Good, The Catching Was So So

Chris tried a variety of top flies and nymphs.  Nothing was consistent.
However, he did land this rainbow on a bead-head pheasant tail.
John had his challenges with casting.  Up river winds didn't help with mending techniques.

Gary's First Float!!

Gary was surprised and pleased at the number of fish he caught.
We snuck up on this rainbow and drifted a bead-head pheasant tail
directly in his feeding lane.  He took it!

Rainbows Prevail

This was the first fish that Brad caught this morning.
Not a bad start!!
Brad said that these fish liked rubber legged hopper.
Tom strategically placed the fly under the culvert in order
catch this fish.
The rainbows also went after bead-head pheasant tails.

Gaggle of Boats

6 boats were already at the put-in when I arrived.
Fishing was good as long as we stayed ahead of the gaggle.
This trip was Jason's Christmas present.
He did thank Santa for it!
Mike holding one of MANY fish he caught today.
Mike had to hold his side while he was laughing so hard.

The Tennessee Version of the Two Bit Hooker

Jerry was happy to catch these Colorado rainbows.
The Hoffer's are growing up to be big boys!
Jim saw this big mouth inhale his dry fly.
The rainbows were active today.
