Winter Fishing

Lucas rowed from Trading Post to Texas Creek and let me fish.
Once again the fish liked the Two Bit Hooker.

First Float Trip of 2012

First fish caught today.  It hit the Arizona Prince.
The water is running at 500+ c.f.s.  This is an ideal level for float fishing.
We fished off of a strike indicator with 2 nymphs.
Lucas let me row so he could catch some fish.  This was his first catch out of the boat.

Returning to the River From Soaking

The water level was on the rise.  They are about to raise the river by 100 c.f.s for the next month.
The fish had to find new places to hang out.
Note the far bank--no ice and no snow!
The Fish Spotter spent a few days in paradise in Northern New Mexico.

High Winds

High Winds blew a lot of the snow off of the Mt. Shavano area.

The Infamous Two Bit Hooker

Too windy to go fishing, so I spent the afternoon tying Two Bit Hookers.

The'Fish Spotter' Took Me Fishing Today

The 'Fish Spotter' is camouflaged among the branches.  She was watching for fish.
Fishing was a bit slow today.  The wind made it hard to get a good mend on the line.
The clouds of the day... lenticular (wind clouds),

Tomichi Lodge Trek

Our first view of Tomichi Lodge after snowshoeing several miles to get there.
'The Fish Spotter' enjoyed the warm fire after we came back from a days
snowshoeing.
The pack included our food and of course, the wine.
'The Fish Spotter' led the way to Tomichi Pass.  Notice the lack of snow!!!
This is the view of Granite Mountain from the lodge.
Tomichi Lodge is one of the few places that has electricity, running water (flushing toilets),
and down comforters for the beds.  We really enjoyed ourselves.

First Fish Caught in the New Year

Guess what?  The first fish was caught on the Two Bit Hooker.
The Fish Spotter had to get acquainted.
This rainbow has his winter colors showing--not too brilliant.
The rainbows were feeding just as much as the browns.  I like that action!
